Abstract
The purpose of this document is to categorize discrepancies of scoring between instrumental ensemble works and their transcriptions according to their effect on score preparation, conducting gestures, and rehearsal technique. This is done through examining six cornerstone pieces by three master composers, representing a variety of ensemble mediums from which transcriptions were made, and their respective wind octet or string ensemble transcriptions.
