Abstract
In August 2017, a far-right protest demonstration in Charlottesville, Virginia, resulted in violence, many injuries, and a death. President Donald Trump responded several times over the days following, issuing statements that resulted in widespread criticism by public and press. At an August 15 press conference scheduled for the announcement of new infrastructure initiatives, the question-answer period exploded into press demands for clarification of the President's statements on Charlottesville. This transcript has been prepared using conventions common in conversational analysis; our own use of the transcript has been in examination of argumentation occurring through question-answer exchange.
