Abstract

In beef cattle research it is a common practice to measure the amount of milk produced by each cow every year. This measurement gives support to the nutritionist to produce a better diet and to estimate the nutritional requirements from each cow since it varies as the amount of the energy consumed changes according to the milk production. This picture was taken during a procedure called weigh-suckle-weigh (WSW) were we restrict the calves from the cows for 12 hours then weight the calf and let it suckle all the milk from his mom then we weigh the calf again. This way we can state which cow is producing more milk using a mild approach.
