- Abstract
- The Ku Klux Klan first emerged on American soil in 1866. The Klan’s influence during this time even allowed for organizations to be established on college campuses, such as the University of Illinois. Although the name of the group is off-putting, there is no direct evidence that the group was affiliated with the broader invisible empire of the Ku Klux Klan. College campuses across the country were breeding grounds for Klan activity. Rooting from the Deep South up to the Midwest, the Klan spread their influence through the University platform; even though campus Klan’s did not perpetrate violence, the motives the students had for joining deeply resonates the aim of representing a quality 100% American.
