Abstract

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign participated in the Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) Research Support Services Study organized by ITHAKA S+R. This study specifically focused on assessing the research practices and needs of civil and environmental engineering faculty in terms of collaborating with colleagues, managing and processing research data, scholarly communication and publishing activities, and discovering and accessing the research literature. The study provided vslusble insights into CEE faculty’s attitudes and practices regarding data management, open access publishing, software used in research, the use of social media, the use of laboratory notebooks, and techniques employed for accessing the research literature.
