As described in the proposal that I submitted for acceptance into the International Studies Research Lab, I have introduced an international writing module into my Cultural Geography course (GEG 1003) at Illinois Valley Community College for the Fall 2018 semester. Using the University of Illinois library resources that I was granted access to via the research lab, I conducted a search of peer-reviewed journal articles in search of original research that highlighted key concepts introduced in my cultural geography course.
I chose one term from each of the twelve chapters in the textbook1 to emphasize, then I selected a research article that addressed the concept in detail, that was well-written, and that avoided the use of professional jargon. To be considered for inclusion in this assignment, each concept had to have both international and cross-cultural components, and illustrate one facet of the globalization process.
