Abstract
"Using these gene alignments, we have conducted a comprehensive in silico evaluation of the specificity and coverage of published primer sets for all the commonly used diagnostic genes in the denitrification pathway using the wealth of functional gene sequence data now available. In addition, we have reevaluated the results of past studies in light of our findings on the specificity and coverage of these primer sets. This is supporting information for the manuscript ""An evaluation of primers for detecting denitrifiers via their functional genes"" submitted to the journal Environmental Microbiology."
