- Abstract
- Our research project focuses on the behavior of “bouncing” robot in different two dimensional environments, where the robot will move straight and bounce off the wall at a fixed angle every time. In some environments, the robot will eventually converge into a fixed trajectory. In the particular “Ninja Star” environment shown in the picture, the robot seems to bounce endlessly without touching any point on the walls twice. Visualizing the behavior of the robot helps greatly in our research since many things in this dynamic system are unknown and “human eye is the best pattern recognition tool”. Simulation images like this provide a good starting point for us to guess what might be the underlying equation of this “forever frantic” robot inside the Ninja star.
