- Abstract
- This is a landscape of Saint Anthony Falls over the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Mississippi River is the symbol of hydrology throughout the history of the United States. It runs along 10 states from Minnesota to Louisiana, and defines several state borders. The longest one in the country with the highest average discharge. The largest fall on this river happens right here at Upper Saint Anthony Lock and Dam. The clouds in the sky at the top and the river flow at the bottom symbolize the hydrologic cycle, which is the core of hydrology field in civil engineering and more importantly the main cause of life on our planet. In addition, two bridges and tall buildings in the background point out major structures in civil engineering. I took this photo from the Stone Arch Bridge.
