This artwork is a study on the work of Francisco Toledo (on the right), an indigenous Mexican artist from the state of Oaxaca. This piece mimics the color pallet used in several of his works where earth tones abound, along with a rough grainy texture seen throughout his works. To contrast this, the artist Julian Fanghanel (on the left), also of Mexican origin, critiques the current views of the Trump administration on Mexican immigration by crafting this piece out of a thin film of TNT on a glass substrate and incorporates it to his study on polymorphism and its dependence on the properties of energetic materials.
