Abstract
The purpose of this project is to propose a plan to implement one of the many objectives of the 2015 Illinois Climate Action Plan (iCAP). The iCAP was signed by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2010, which was further updated in 2015. The objective that this project focuses on, requires the production of 12,500 MWh of solar energy on campus property by FY2020. The objective also requires the production of 25,000 MWh of solar energy on campus property by FY2525.
This project proposes a list of buildings on campus that are most suitable to be retrofitted with rooftop solar. Utilizing the roof-spaces of buildings is an excellent use of otherwise unutilized space, since these roof spaces do not compete with any other land-uses.
