Abstract
Nowadays, digitalization has come into many aspects in people’s daily lifes, and farm management is
not an exception. Researchers from the Department of Animal Science at UIUC work with farmers in
some developing countries and want to bring transgenic livestock into farms in order to provide a
significant boost in their milk production. We are working with the researchers to help them
develop this system, which will help the farmers gain more information on milk production
from their livestock and help the researchers collect data on livestock research.
Our system should be based on the cloud so that the farmers can upload and view their data all the
time. The system contains three main components: login system, livestock information
page (dashboard), and milk production information page. We built our system on Amazon’s EC2
machine on the cloud and used AWS RDS(Relational Database Service). The whole system is
constructed in PHP language, using the Laravel 5 framework. Many front-end techniques such as
Ajax are also applied.
