Abstract
There has been an increasing demand for a more flexible insurance policy to identify
diverse consumer markets. Car insurance has been a big component of the insurance industry
and there is an increasing demand for different pricing strategy based on driving behavior.
Currently, most insurance companies would provide a product such as car-mounted
beacon in order to gather user information to tell if the user is a driver or a passenger and
who is driving the car. Setting up such a device is not only time consuming but also costly,
which hinders the growth of the market. Therefore, the development for a flexible Mobile
Telematics algorithm is crucial in achieving the same functionality using a cell phone. In this
paper, we propose a novel design for such an algorithm using Samsung Galaxy S4 with an Android
operating system.
