Quantum communication is a rapidly emerging field with widespread applications ranging from secure key distribution to clock stabilization. Classical-quantum hybrid channels are of special interest due to the potential of building upon already existing infrastructure. I have successfully built a classicalquantum hybrid optical transceiver over free-space that transmits and receives data between two Raspberry Pi’s Universal Asynchronous Transmit-Receive (UART) channels simultaneously alongside a quantum transmission of single-photons. The purpose of this transceiver is for implementing the quantum key distribution (QKD) BB84 protocol over two in-flight drones while transmitting classical data for drone stabilization along the same channel.
