- Abstract
- """This image is a collective artwork created by myself, pupils, parents and staff, it is a literal physical manifestation of the core Reggio Emilia values: participation, ongoing professional development, collegiality, environment, atelier, family and community, documentation and social constructivism. During the project I noticed some different levels of involvement from all the participants involved. This thought became the spark for my research question: What impact do creative practitioners have in the classroom? What happens when they leave? What effect does this have on the child, the teacher, the artist? Leavy (2018) discusses the synergy between artistic and qualitative practice and how both roles are trying to illuminate something. Before I had never considered that my artistic practice and outcomes could become a form of research. That it could not only construct knowledge, but also create meaning and a sense of understanding that becomes accessible to others. Considering my phenomenological approach to knowledge construction I believe the body can help us to develop meaning (Stinson, 1995) thus conducting research in this way can help me gain a deeper understanding of my participants lived experience (Pentassuglia, 2017)."""
