Abstract: The project compares the non-metallic/polymer heat exchangers to the current technology in metallic heat exchangers. A review of state of the art of polymer heat exchangers is presented and technological problems are identified. Simulation models were developed and used to explore the thermal-hydraulic, packaging and weight tradeoffs associated with polymer heat exchangers. Finally, the results are used to provide essential background for deciding if and where to allocate resources to more detailed analyses and prototype development.
